August 19, 2015

Dear Covenant family,

"Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God" - Matthew 5:9

Have you noticed the amazingly effective result of the reconciling responses given by the Charleston shooting victims' families? Not only made their comments and attitudes headline news, it affected state government action and stirred many to walk the streets, defying anger and hostility with the opposite; Peace Making. As we continue our series on the beatitudes this Sunday, we will look at Peacemakers. In a world filled with strive and conflict, there is a desperate need for them.

Dear Covenant family,

‘How good an pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity' - Ps 133:1

This Sunday pastor Mike Priest, with Christ Community Church in St. Louis will be speaking. We enjoyed participating in Family Camp with them in the past years, and next to bringing a message pastor Mike will also give us an update on what to expect at this year's family Camp. It is a pulpit exchange: Marco will be speaking at their church. The van Raalten’s will continue their trip up north to spend a few days with Kari’s parents – returning later in the week; back on Sunday.

Memorial Service Dick Slater

A big thank you to everyone for your help! The church looks clean, inside and out. Pray for Gods Will to be done tomorrow - as Dick would want to see the Gospel of our Lord lived out among us in word and deed! Pray for salvation to come to the family, friends and acquaintances of the Slater's.

As a reminder for tomorrow:

How low can we go? – Debt Reduction Campaign

A major incentive for future growth would be for us to lower our debt, allowing resources to be used for other means, instead of paying off our debt. For this purpose your elders and deacons initiated a 'how low can we go' fundraiser that will continue until year's end. Our goal: Reduce our debt to $100,000 (from the $140,000+ it is now). More information to follow in the months ahead and at our quarterly meeting on August 2nd. Gifts to be put in the deacon box with memo 'debt reduction'
